Illustrated with 16 full page plates including the frontispiece. Each plate is protected with a tissue guard. Condition: Ex Library, deaccessioned from the Dominican College Library Reference Room, San Rafael, California. There is a shelving label to the spine; stamps, labels and library markings to the front and rear endpapers; stamps to all the page edges (page edges of the closed book); stamps and some marks to the first and second title pages, copyright page, and here and there throughout. Ex library aside, the covers are worn through at their corner tips but are otherwise solid; internally, the pages are tightly bound, bright and clear. A solid, though ex lib, first edition, limited to only 500 copies. A valuable bibliographical reference.
