ILLUSTRATED with 89 Maps and Figures, and 3 fold open Maps at the rear. GOOD condition. The covers are worn and chipped along the edges and corners, the spine covering is splitting at the upper and lower folds, and is creased and toned, there is a previous owner's signature at the top of the front cover.. Internally, the pages are lightly toned, there is offsetting to facing pages 2 and 3, as if from a newspaper article that had been laid in; there is red pencil underlining on the Preface pages and the first text page (i.e. on 6 pages) otherwise the rest of the pages are uncut and unmarked (I guess page 1 of the text was as far as the previous owner made it with this book); the text block binding is cracked at a number of places and some of the signatures are shaky but still holding with the sewn binding. First edition of a classic treatise on Earthquakes.
