ILLUSTRATED with 2 engraved plates (of 3, lacks the portrait frontispiece). The TWO ENGRAVED PLATES consist of a copper engraved leaf with printed details at the bottom that read "Dominicus Muratori pinacit" and "Hieronymus Rossi incidit"; and a LARGE FOLD OPEN COPPER ENGRAVED PLATE that measures 24 x 19 inches including its white margins, with printed details at the bottom that read "Nic. Dorigny Gallus delin. et sculp. Rome sup. perm. an. 1699." Condition: The VELLUM COVERS are age discolored, rubbed, and show general wear, but remain solid and are attractive in a Harry Potter Hogwarts Library way; internally, there is an ink blotch / stain to the blank front free endpaper and a large circular ink stain to the last few pages of text and the endpapers (all text is fully legible); the folding plate has some large closed tears but is holding together and could be carefully repaired, though beautiful as is. A solid copy with printing and paper that is early and gorgeous. RARE 1712 EDITION in VELLUM COVERS, especially scarce with its Large Folding Engraved Plate that is usually lacking (because it was often removed and sold / disbursed separately).
