MUSIC IN JEWISH LIFE Canadian and American CANTORS History & Genealogy 1957
MUSIC IN JEWISH LIFE, by Rev. Nathan Stolnitz. A book about Canadian and American CANTORS and their MUSIC. Text in YIDDISH with a lesser amount in ENGLISH.
Self Published, printed by the Morris Printing Company, Toronto, Canada, 1957. First (and presumed only) edition.
Hardcover Book, green cloth covered boards, gold lettering on the covers and spine, 6.5x10.5 inches, 266 pages in YIDDISH, 62 pages in ENGLISH. Laid in is a 16 page booklet containing reviews and endorsements of the book and its author.
ILLUSTRATED throughout with b&w photographs, primarily individual and group portraits of Canadian and U.S. Cantors throughout history.
VERY GOOD condition, the covers have a bit of wear to the spine ends and corner tips, the gold lettering on the covers has faded but is legible; internally tight, bright, clean and unmarked. A solid, nice copy. The laid in booklet is in FAIR condition, it is creased and worn along the front edge where it stuck out from the book, otherwise it is bright and clear.
An interesting history and genealogy of CANTORS, primarily in Canada and the U.S.
