THE GLORIA VANDERBILT IDEA BOOK.
This is Gloria Vanderbilt's first collection of art fabrics for the home. Illustrated with her DRAWINGS and ACTUAL SWATCHES of her original fabric art designs. This book and the fabrics in it were Designed and Created by Gloria Vanderbilt exclusively for Bloomcraft in 1973.
Though a Bloomcraft sample book, the book truly is an ARTIST'S BOOK, as everything in it is by Gloria Vanderbilt, all the art, all the fabric designs, all the text.
Large format, illustrated card covers, 14x18 inches, bound with two steel bolts, 26 pages, printed on heavy stock paper.
Contains 14 swatches of her original fabric designs, created for various uses, e.g. wall coverings, bedspreads, lamp shades, curtains, upholstery, throw pillows, etc. They are absolutely unique and wonderful.
Fully illustrated with Vanderbilt's drawings, showing various uses for the fabrics created for this sample book.
Published by Bloomcraft, [New York, 1973]. First and only edition.
GOOD Condition: The cover's corners are creased and worn, the front corners have some clear tape repair, the spine ends are worn, the edges are rubbed, the rear board has a few inch crease starting at its top edge; nonetheless the covers are sturdy, doing their job well, and the front cover illustration is bright and lovely. Internally, the first and last page have some offsetting from the black covers, otherwise the pages are just lightly handled and still tight, bright, clean, clear and unmarked. ALL the 14 FABRIC SWATCHES are PRESENT, bright and lovely.
RARE. WorldCat lists only 1 copy, and it is held by Tulane University.
