From the Preface: "Tracing the genealogy of each of the sixteen branches of the Schumacher family that have grown out of the Peter Schumacher-Elizabeth Suter union (1839) has proved to be a task bigger than anyone cared to assume to date (1975). The work presented here is a partial genealogy, following only the line of John, the seventh child."
