BRAQUE - DESSINS, by Francis Ponge.

Published by Les Editions Braun & Cie, 18 Rue Louis Le Grand, Paris, 1950.

White paper card covers, sewn binding, 9.5x12 inches (24.5x31.5 cm), 12 pages of text followed by 16 BEAUTIFULLY PRINTED PLATES, all printed on fine heavy stock wove paper with deckled edges. Each of the plates is printed on its own leaf, most in b&w, a few with blue or tan colors. They are gorgeous, each suitable for framing. In a printed dustjacket that is integral to the covers (it is folded securely onto the white card covers), it has titling and an engraved drawing on the front panel and titling on the spine. There is also a glassine protective cover over the integral dustjacket..

From the Colophon page (the last page): "Ce volume, le neuvième de la collection Plastique publiée sous la direction de George Besson, a été imprimé sur papier vélin lana par les Éditions Braun & Cie, Mulhouse-Dornach, Paris, Lyon. (This volume, the ninth in the collection Plastique published under the direction of George Besson, was printed on wove paper by Braun & Cie, Mulhouse-Dornach, Paris, Lyon.)"

Condition: The integral dustjacket is sunned / toned at the spine and the upper and lower margins, has some wear and a few small chips at the spine ends and corner tips, and the top and bottom folds are almost completely split (which would separate the upper and lower fold-overs from the jacket); nonetheless this fragile jacket is bright and complete. The plain white covers and the inner pages are in Very Good condition, the pages have some light toning to the edges, otherwise the pages are tight, bright, clean, clear and unmarked. The plates are all brilliant, sharp, bright and clear, with none of the foxing often found on the plates. The glassine protector has smudges, a chip at the top of the spine, and clear tape reinforcement to the spine and folds, but is present and functioning well.
