PIET MONDRIAN Scarce PROSPECTUS containing one ORIGINAL MINIATURE HAND PRINTED COLOR SCREEN PRINT. A miniature version of one of the screen prints featured in the portfolio.
PROSPECTUS, published by Ives-Sillman, 1966. Original paper folder with black printing on the front cover and descriptive text on the verso, with original screen print and original printed tissue guard loosely laid in. Square format, 9.75" x 9.5". This prospectus screen print was issued prior to the publication of the portfolio and is miniature compared to the portfolio screen prints which are 17" x 17". As such, this original Piet Mondrian miniature screen print is extremely scarce.
The painting portfolio this PROSPECTUS advertises is the 1967 limited edition "Piet Mondrian Portfolio of 10 Paintings," published by Ives-Sillman, Inc., New Haven, Connecticut, and was printed in an edition of 150 numbered copies, each work printed on Arches paper. A copy of the portfolio was recently for sale by a rare book company for $22,000.
NEAR FINE Condition screen print (after Mondrian's 1936 painting Composition in Yellow and Blue), colors are vivid and bright. The paper folder's covers are lightly toned, have some off-setting, a few tiny stains and light wear, internally, the folder, the print and tissue guard are near fine, bright, clean and unmarked. A beautiful and scarce copy.
