"15 Quai Bourbon // Cher Monsieur Keim, / Merci pour votre lettre et les nouvelles de Moscou. / Je serai très content de vous revoir. Pourriez-vous venir un jour chez nous? (English translation: 15 Quai Bourbon // Dear Mr. Keim, / Thank you for your letter and the news from Moscow / I would be very happy to see you again. Could you come to our house one day? Phone me Odeon 92-14. / We are leaving Thursday evening for a week in London - if you can call me before my departure. // Sincerely // Marc Chagall).
Condition: The writing on the letter is bold, bright and clear; there is some wear, small chips, and a small piece of tape remnant to the corner tips, the letter has several vertical and horizontal creases where it was likely folded to fit into a small envelope (the envelope is NOT present). Overall a lovely and rare handwritten and signed Marc Chagall letter.
15 COLOR LITHOGRAPHS from VERVE 33/34, consisting of THE COVER LITHOGRAPH and 14 (of 16) COLOR LITHOGRAPHS from the issue. Includes all 4 Genesis Angel lithos, all 4 of the Moses lithos, all 4 of the Prophets lithos, and 2 (of 4) of the KINGS lithos.
The lithos measure 10.25x14 inches. They were printed by Mourlot, Paris, France.
Condition: The LITHOGRAPHS all have some waviness (likely old humidity), the cover lithograph has a few spots of foxing, some of the white backsides of the lithographs have some small dark spots and areas of light shorelining, the red color from one lithograph has seeped through and lightly tinted the its backside; but lithographs themselves are all bright and brilliant, no chips, creases, marks, lovely. Every one would look great framed.
The archival box appears as new and has safely stored this collection of 15 Marc Chagall lithographs and the Marc Chagall letter.
