LONDON: John Lane the Bodley Head, Ltd, 1924. First edition, first printing, with the statement: "First Printed in 1924" on the copyright page with no indication of additional printings.
Hardcover Book, orange cloth covered boards, 5x7.5 inches, 262 pages. Illustrated with 3 plates (Roulette Wheel, Roulette Table, Table of the Voisins).
From the Foreword: "Happiness is the great thing in this world. We each are free to seek it according to our own desires. If wealth is the main contributing factor, then the quickest route would appear to be via Monte Carlo..."
GOOD condition: The covers are sunned at the spine, have some corner tip and edge wear, are a bit soiled, and have a few small stains to the rear board and spine; internally, there is a lovely biblio bookplate of Katie S. Matthews on the front pastedown, a 1926 gift inscription on the front free-endpaper, toning to the pages, and the inner hinge is cracked at a number of places where the book was opened wide, but the binding is holding well. A complete and presentable copy.
