1943 MARION MISSISSIPPI MEN & WOMEN Serving in the ARMY w/ AFRICAN-AMERICANS SEGREGATED to the BACK of the ISSUE

HONOR ROLL - MARION COUNTY MISSISSIPPI MEN AND WOMEN SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA October 1943.

An illustrated listing of people from Marion County, Mississippi, serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. Published in October 1943, during the war.

Large format paper publication, side-stapled, 12x17.5 inches, 48 pages. Published by The Columbian-Progress, Columbia, Mississippi, October 11, 1943. First edition.

Includes 45 pages of Men and Women who were in the Armed Forces. The first 42 pages are all the white men and women. The African-American men are segregated to the last 3 pages at the back (like the back of the bus). Yes, Jim Crow laws and segregationist attitudes were rampant.

GOOD condition, a horizontal crease where the publication was folded in half, some other creases from handling, general toning to the pages, some soiling especially to the covers, some closed edge tears to the covers and here and there; overall a used, but still a solid, complete copy.
