ORIGINAL DOUBLE POSTCARD featuring images of two concert posters for upcoming concerts at the Avalon Ballroom in August 1968. Produced by Family Dog Productions during the zenith of San Francisco's psychedelic music scene. Family Dog Productions began producing concerts in the mid 1960s at the Fillmore Auditorium with Bill Graham and Chet Helms, they hired young artists to design the graphics for their concert posters and handbills, these artists, including Stanley Mouse are now renowned as innovators of psychedelic art.
FAMILY DOG 1968 original pre concert 1st printing double postcard. FD 133/134. Off-set printed in San Francisco, California, cream color card printed with brown ink, 9.25" x 6.5" inches, verso is printed with psychedelic Family Dog logo. Most of these postcards were sent through the mail to mailing list recipients advertising the upcoming event. The artists for Bill Haley and the Comets are George Hunter and Jerry Wainright, and for Spirit are Stanley Mouse and photographer Arnold Genthe (1869-1942). Of note, the Spirit image is from a 1915 photograph of famous dancer Anna Pavlova. VERY GOOD CONDITION: stamped name and address of recipient, light wear, a light horizontal fold along the middle, and some light creasing, overall a bright vintage relic from San Francisco's 1960s counterculture.
