The original penned SIGNATURE of GEORGE GERSHWIN is clipped from one of Gershwi's personal bank checks and is pasted onto the front free endpaper.

Published by Longmans Green & Co., London and New York, 1938. First edition, first printing. Hardcover book, 8 "x 10.5" inches, 252 pages, no dustjacket. Illustrated with b&w plates and photographs. A tribute to the iconic American composer published just one year after his death. GOOD PLUS condition, the covers have light wear to the spine ends and corner tips, some scrapes to the spine folds; internally, the front inner hinge has some clear tape reinforcement, penned gift inscription on the half title, the text block has a few hairline cracks but is holding well with the sewn binding, otherwise the pages are tight, bright, clean and unmarked and GEORGE GERSHWIN'S signature is bold and bright. SCARCE and UNIQUE with the clipped SIGNATURE of GEORGE GERSHWIN.
