Pagination: Part I has approximately 300 unnumbered pages, including 32 plates of color maps and numerous b&w photographic plates; Part II has 281 numbered pages and b&w portraiture plates.

GOOD condition: wear to the spine ends, corner tips, and some places along the edges; the boards have 100+ black & white illustrated plates, some shelf rubs, the spine gilt lettering has mostly faded away, the gilt illustration on the front cover has faded a bit but still attractive; internally nice, the pages are tight, bright, clean and unmarked. All maps and plates are present. The maps are great.
