From the Foreword: "The following compilation was made in order to record as much information as possible of a pre-European nature pertaining to archaeological sites on the island of Oahu, to bring the material together in one place in order that it might be better preserved, and to make the information readily available to those interested in the study and preservation of these sites. It is hoped that this work will inspire those with further knowledge to contribute their information, so that it, too, may be recorded before it is lost forever."
