A vintage, publicly distributed copy of a letter / petition dated June 9, 1950, addressed to the Occupying Allied Forces, requesting that, in accordance with the Potsdam Declaration, the Allied Occupational Forces stop purging Japanese Communists from the Central Committee. The first part of the letter reads:

From: Karoku Hosokawa, Chief, Communist Members of the Diet,

Dear Lt. Gen, Derevyanikos

To the Allied Council for Japan, which is set up to advise the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers in accordance with the provisions of the Potsdam Declaration that "The Japanese Government shall remove all obstacles to the revival and strengthening of Democratic tendencies among the Japanese people," we request that the Council pay profound attention to the purge of the Central Committee members of the Japanese Communist Party, which was conducted by the Japanese Government in accordance with the letter of the Supreme Commander to Fremier Yoshida.
