Shirley Chisholm made history as the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress, winning her congressional seat in November 1968. She represented New York's 12th congressional district, centered in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, for seven terms, 1969 - 1983. Her motto was "UNBOUGHT and UNBOSSED".

NOW LAWS ARE BEING PASSED TO HINDER AS MANY BLACK VOTERS AS POSSIBLE. I guess UNBOUGHT and UNBOSSED doesn't apply to many in Congress these days.
