Condition: There are a couple brown burn marks on the front cover that affect the same spot on a few of the following inner pages, the staples have rusted but are holding well, the covers have light general creases from use, otherwise the catalog is quite nice, tight, bright, clean, clear and unmarked. The used mailing envelope is soiled, age toned, has a mailing label "Jack Anthony / Millbrook, New York", and writing on the backside "Clarence Nathaniel Anthony / North Avenue / Millbrook, New York" and "Millbrook Memorial School / Rowland H. Ross / Principal".

1941 Autograph Book kept by Murray, a student graduating from East New York Junior High School, Public School 149, later to be known as PS 149 "Danny Kaye". Like many schools in Brooklyn, the demographics of the school have changed dramatically since 1941.

The autograph book is held in a zippered blue vinyl case which is embossed on the front cover with: "Autographs / E. N. Y. J. H. S. / 149". It measures 4..5x5.5 inches. There are approximately 60 pages where signatures and memories are written.

Though the autographs in the book are all dated 1941, the autograph book itself was likely published in 1939 because the first 7 pages are photographs of the 1939 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR. These are followed by a photograph of the school building and the school's principal. Then comes the autograph section.

Some of the kids who signed and left comments in the book include: Harriet Rothberg, Lorraine Olanoff, Seymour Boom, Sol Wishnick, Meyer Meltzer, Seymour Weintraub, David Simon, Frieda Scharfstein, and many others.

The owner of the autograph book was named Murray, though some referred to him as "Moish or Moe".

The autograph book is in VERY GOOD condition, all the pages are tight, bright, clean and clear. The zippered case is sturdy and functions well, but the gilt embossing on the front cover has substantially faded.

DUEL IN THE SUN - Film Footage Schedule for All Domestic Release Prints, Showing All Positive Splices. PRINTS NUMBER 1 to 307. Dated May 1, 1947. Unusual Piece of Motion Picture Ephemera. Heavy stock paper covers, typed title and other info on front cover, two inner pages with mimeographed information, side stapled. Condition: Staples rusted but holding well, some creasing to the corners from handling, overall bright and clean. "Duel in the Sun", one of the great films of the 20th century! Martin Scorsese stated that this was the first film he ever saw and holds it in high regard. He mentioned it in his documentary of American movies. Please be sure you noted that this has only TWO PAGES plus covers. Yes, it's very thin, but it's a RARE and interesting piece of motion picture history.

FAMILY PHOTO ALBUM with 50 Original b&w Photographs from the 1940s - 1950s. Snapshots of People on Boats and Beaches, and in front of Homes and Buildings. Good background images. Seems to be a Oceanside or Lakeside area. The album has NO HANDWRITTEN INFORMATION, so I have no idea who the people are or where they are. The 50 photographs are mounted with photo corner mounts in a vinyl cover photo album. The snapshots range in size, including their white borders, from 3.5x5" to 3x4" to 2.5x3.5" to a few even smaller. The images in and the style of these b&w photographs appears to date them from the 1940s and 1950s. Condition: Most of the photos are clean, clear, bright and sharp; a few have faded, and a few have some stains. The album is in solid, clean condition.

REED RESEARCH INC. - CORPORATE & PRODUCT PRESENTATION ALBUM with 28 Original 8x10 glossy photographs, each with a typed caption on a strip of white paper mounted at the bottom. The photos are loosely inserted in plastic holders and held in a three ring binder. There are two introductory leaves, the second of which states: "Several Products Resulting from Research and Development / Reed Research Inc. / Washington 7 D.C.". Put together by Reed Research Inc., circa mid 1950s.

The photos are all in VERY GOOD condition, bright, sharp, clear; the binder is solid and functioning well, with a few minor scrapes.

The founder of Reed Research Inc. was STANLEY FOSTER REED. Steve Jobs had nothing on this guy who started this company at the age of 23. Read on.

About the FOUNDER of REED RESEARCH INC., Stanley Foster Reed (from Wikipedia):

******Stanley Foster Reed, b.1917 d.2007, was an entrepreneur, inventor, and publisher who founded Reed Research Inc. in 1940, the journal Mergers & Acquisitions in 1965, and the magazine Campaigns & Elections in 1980.

In 1940, at age 23, Reed started a scientific research company, renting a two story building next to a junkyard in Georgetown. Over the next 20 years he built "Reed Research Inc." into a multi-million dollar company. He worked on issues ranging from safe land mine removal to electrocardiography to language learning laboratories to designs for shipping containers for missiles, obtaining scores of patents in the process. Based solely on his work experience he was admitted to membership in the Society of Naval Architects and received certification as a Professional Engineer.

In the 1960s, he was actively involved in social issues, including sponsoring programs to encourage inner-city entrepreneurship, writing about the poor of Appalachia, and lecturing on ethics.******

STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL SCRAPBOOK filled with NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS FOR THE GAMES leading up to the BIG GAME, with a TICKET STUB for the BIG GAME that took place on Saturday, November 24, 1951, laid-in at the rear. The 1951 Stanford Football team made it to the Rose Bowl.

Scrapbook, no covers, 18 leaves (36 pages), 8x11.5 inches, bound with two brass brads. STANFORD 1951 is written at the bottom of the first page. Newspaper clippings relating to the Stanford 1951 football games are pasted onto both sides of the leaves. Articles are pasted chronologically game to game. The clippings show scores, game details, major plays, star players, etc.

The last page has a ticket stub for the BIG GAME. The stub is loose but it appears to have been lightly glued on because there are some glue remnants and a small scrape on the backside.

Condition: The scrapbook pages and newspaper clippings are age toned, the articles have various creases and some edge wear, overall the clippings are clear and fully legible; the Big Game ticket stub has some glue remnants and a few scrapes on its backside.

******The 1951 Stanford Indians football team represented Stanford University in the 1951 college football season. Stanford was led by first year head coach Chuck Taylor. The team was a member of the Pacific Coast Conference and played their home games at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California.

The 1950 season had ended in disappointing fashion after high expectations and a fast start. Head coach Marchmont Schwartz resigned following the season, and to replace him Stanford hired Chuck Taylor, a former Stanford All-American guard and member of Stanford's undefeated 1940 team which defeated Nebraska in the 1941 Rose Bowl.

Led by the passing attack of senior quarterback Gary Kerkorian and senior end Bill McColl, Stanford ran out to a 9-0 start and took a #3 ranking into the Big Game, where they were 13 point favorites over rival California. 1945 LETTER to MARQUISE HELENE DE PINS, PARIS, FRANCE, from RAYMOND ARMSBY, Mutual Life Insurance Company, San Francisco.

The Marquise Helene de Pins was a French Aristocrat who inherited the BEAULIEU VINEYARDS of Rutherford, NAPA VALLEY.

Raymond Armsby was a San Francisco socialite, Member of the BOHEMIAN CLUB, and, at the time, an Insurance agent for the rich and famous.

Single Page Typed Letter, Signed by Armsby, on Mutual Life Insurance Co. of New York stationery. The letter is dated May 20, 1954. The letter comes with its original mailing envelope.

In the letter Armsby suggests to Marquise de Pins that her property (i.e. wines) stored in an expensive to insure Champagne Cellar be moved to one of the buildings on her Vineyards where FIRE INSURANCE rates would be less expensive, implying that the$30,000 in insurance she currently held should be returned to a $50,000 level. From the letter: "...you desired only to insure the personal property stored in the Champagne Cellar for $30,000...It is unfortunate...that the property was moved from San Francisco for storage in a building on which the Fire Rating Bureau had placed such a high premium rate...I suggest you look over your buildings at the Vineyards, indicate to me the one in which you wish to place the property...a building with a low fire rate..."

Condition: The letter has several folds from where it was folded to fit into a small envelope, and some corner tip creases. Overall the letter is tight, bright, clean. The envelope is well used, lots of postal stamps, a forwarding label, and wear from being opened, but still clearly shows the return address and the name of Marquise Helene de Pins.

(1) In TELEVISION WORK, (2) In NEWS PHOTO EXPANSION, (3) In FILM PATROL TECHNIQUE. 18 typescript leaves with text on one side only, plus FIVE ORIGINAL 8X10 B&W PHOTOGRAPHS, pages and photos 2 hole punched at their left margin, bound in a stiff folder with metal bracket, typed title label on front cover. Report by this THOROUGHBRED HORSE RACING TRACK on its new, and at the time novel, plan to film races at the Park for promotional and news purposes, as well as on the expansion of its still photography capabilities. The report goes into detail as to how the Track Organization intends to make the films unique enough that TV stations will want to show them without the Track having to pay for play. Condition: Some wear and staining to covers, including coffee cup rings, droplet stains, soiling, and some edge and corner wear. Internally very nice, the pages and photos are bright, clean, clear, and unmarked. One of a only few, perhaps even a one of a kind report. An interesting, rare item related to the history of Delaware Park. An Original Vintage Autographed Stage Play Souvenir Program, illustrated paper covers, side stapled, 9x12" [23 x 30 cm], 16 pages. GOOD condition: the spine fold is scraped and splitting for 1.5 inches at the bottom but holding well, the covers have some finger smudges, the rear cover has a scrape to its upper edge and spine margin, otherwise the covers are solid and bright; internally, the "Berta Gersten" page has been pasted over the page of a previous actress who she obviously replaced, overall the inner pages are just lightly used, still bright and clean. 1962 BEVERLY HILLS HIGH SCHOOL. (1) HIGHLIGHTS, the SENIOR EDITION of the CLASS OF 1962. Newspaper, 16 pages, single fold sheets one inside the other, 10x15 inches, folded in half horizontally (perhaps distributed that way). Contains various articles on the Senior Class and its upcoming Commencement Exercises. (2) Two identical copies of the Fifty-seventh Commencement Exercises Program, single fold, 7x10 inches each. (3) Alumni List Of Class Of 62. Seven 8x10 sheets, printed on one side only, single staple at upper corner. Gives an alphabetical listing of all the students, with their address, phone, and college to be attended. (4) A two page seating chart. (5) A 3 page Special Bulletin regarding the Commencement Exercises. (6) A 2 page booklet titled Comical Capers. Appears to be the program for a fun event to be held later the same day as the Commencement Exercises. CONDITION: The Newspaper has some closed edge tears, creases, and signs of handling, but is still solid, bright, clean and complete. The ephemera is all in Very Good condition, just light signs of handling, a few names circled in ink here and there.

CAPT. CURTIS A. THOR, U.S. AIR FORCE re: AIR TRANSPORT, GUAM, VIETNAM, with the largest folder of documents coming from 1965 and 1966 while he was STATION TRAFFIC OFFICER at ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, GUAM, during the time of the VIETNAM WAR. All the items are in generally GOOD condition, with general signs of handling and wear, still bright and clean. The materials are: (1) A paper written by Capt. Curtis titled: INTERIOR CLEANING OF TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT, A STAFF STUDY. Written for the 1608th Air Terminal Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. Six typed pages with hand corrections throughout. There is a handwritten critique of the paper on the back of the last page, apparently written by a supervisor. Bound in a student type paper folder. Dated 2 November 1959. (2) A THESIS by Captain Curtis A. Thor titled: AEROSPACE THESIS : CAPSULE EJECTION FROM SUPERSONIC AIRCRAFT. Written at the Squadron Officer School. Six typed pages plus a bibliography and title page, bound in a student type paper folder. Dated 1 December 1959. (3) Booklet published by the DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE titled INFORMATION ON VIETNAM FOR AIR FORCE PERSONNEL. AFP 216-9. Dated 17 July 1967. 26 pages. (4) Folder filled with numerous documents written for distribution to the 1507TH SUPPORT SQUADRON, ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, GUAM. All the documents are dated in 1965 and 1966. Many of the documents were written by CAPTAIN CURTIS A. THOR, Station Traffic Officer, with a few by MAJOR LLOYD W. JOHNSTON, Station Traffic Officer. Each document is paginated separately, approximately 150 pages.

Three Ring Binder filled with Handwritten Notes and Official Record Sheets on Mares Bred (Pacific Coast Quarter Horses) during 1965 and 1966. Horse names include: BLUE CACTUS, Jesse Bar, BLUE LEDGER, Blue Miller, BOLD MINUTE, (Copay?) Coleen, CAT SOX, and many many MORE. For each horse, or perhaps for each time a mare is bred, there is a page with some handwritten notes followed by what appears to be an official page filled with small boxes with handwritten code letters in many of the boxes (I assume breeders know what the code letters stand for). Approximately 150 - 200 total sheets, meaning 75-100 pages of notes with 75-100 official sheets with handwritten letter codes. There is no definitive information on the binder's owner, perhaps RUSSELL SMITH because there is a personal letter (apparently unrelated to horse breeding) laid-in the front on his letterhead which reads: "Russell Smith / R-S / Registered Quarter Horses / Paicines, California." Russell Smith was actively involved in the PCQHA, so it would make sense that the binder was his. However, the letter is dated 1955 and the horse information is from 1965-1966, so... GOOD condition, some of the pages have pulled away from the 3 rings and are torn at the holes, but they remain in their proper order; otherwise the pages are bright, clean, clear and fully legible. An interesting look at Quarter Horse Breeding in Northern California.

OSTS & BUDGET BREAKDOWN for the filming of THE SCALPHUNTERS in MEXICO. Includes all costs for an expected 66 day shoot in Mexico. The date of the budget breakdown is 1/25/67, with photography started on 2/23/67. The film was released by United Artists on 4/2/68, more than a year after this working budget.

The film was produced by Norlan Productions / Bristol Pictures. It was directed by Sydney Pollack, and starred Burt Lancaster.

Approximately 70 photocopied 8.5x14 inch pages, printed on one side only, 2-hole punched at the top, bound with a metal bracket, held in a manila folder. (Photocopying was, and often still is, how original copies of working budgets, with changes, were quickly produced and distributed to studios, producers, agents, directors, and others involved in a motion picture production.)

Every page has detailed information regarding the film's budget, including costs of extras, gaffers, stars, makeup and hairdressing, set designs, equipment, etc. etc. etc. This was truly a working budget, with white-out changes here and there throughout as cost estimates changed.

The budget pages are in VERY GOOD condition, lightly age toned, some signs of handling, and some white-out changes here and there (as noted above), otherwise the pages are bright, clean, clear and unmarked. The manila folder holding the budget breakdown has creases, wear, and some small stains.

A wonderful and intimate look at the breakdown of every cost involved in the production of a major motion picture in 1968.

1975 THIRD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SAN FRANCISCO BOOK FAIR POSTER / BANNER, ink stamped on felt. Measures 17x34 inches. Image on one side only. Probably was meant to be hung like a banner.

Only FAIR condition, there are a couple big holes at the upper corners (probably from where it was originally hung), lots of other holes and tears throughout, some from handling, some perhaps even from moths (you can see the holes when the banner is held up to the light); there is soiling, especially at the lower section. Nonetheless a still solid poster /banner from the San Francisco International Book Fair poster of 1975.

A scarce item from back in the day when there were actually major book fairs in the city of San Francisco!

ROYAL HAWAIIAN MANAGEMENT CORPORATION : ISLANDS OF SUNSHINE. YOUR OPPORTUNITY to CASH IN ON TOMORROW. Published by the Royal Hawaiian Management Corp., September, 1980. A 135 page publication of the Royal Hawaiian Management Corporation, trying to drum up BUYERS for property that it planned to DEVELOP in HAWAII, especially on the KONA COAST of the Big Island, and on KAUAI.

There are lots of photos and drawings, showing how airports and other developments in the area would make you RICH if you bought property NOW. Though most of this illustrated sales publication deals with property in various locations in various Hawaiian Islands, the publication also shows other properties that it has for sale or under development in various States and in the Caribbean. Softcovers, side stapled, 8x11 inches, 135 pages. Illustrated throughout with b&w photos and drawings. VERY GOOD condition, toning to the margins of all pages (as normal as it is printed on newsprint type paper), a couple small edge tears, otherwise tight, bright, clean and unmarked.

Three Ring Binder filled with Handwritten Notes, Letters, and Ephemera related to Descendants of WALTER PALMER of the 1629 Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Notes were handwritten by, and letters were written to, Muriel Palmer Owen. Based on the USPS date stamps on the letters' envelopes this information was compiled mostly during the 1980s and 1990s. Muriel Palmer Owen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was clearly researching various branches of her ancestry. She died in 2017. This notebook / binder came from her estate. Three ring binder, stiff covers covered in vinyl, pockets on both the inside front and rear covers, filled with 5.5x8.5 inch paper, plus lots of laid in letters and notes. There is a paper label taped onto the front cover that has the handwritten title: "Genealogical Records / Muriel P. Owen / Sonoma, CA". 38 of the notebook pages have handwritten genealogical notes relating to the descendants of Walter Palmer. The pages seem to be somewhat alphabetically arranged by family last names, though many are not in their proper order. Family names include Wakeman, Cogswell - Willis, Dailey, Herschker (Husker), Janisch, Mead, Owen, Wells, Truesdell, and others. Also contains approximately 20 pieces of loose relevant ephemera, including letters from relatives supplying information about the family, and various handwritten notes. Condition: There are creases, signs of handling, pages pulling from the rings, etc., but all the writing remains clear and fully legible.

GUEST DINNER PARTY PLANNER & ARRANGER BOOK owned by DAGNY CORCORAN, L.A. SOCIALITE, ART-BOOK MAVEN, BONNE VIVANTE, PHILANTHROPIST, and, perhaps most important, BEST DINNER PARTY HOST of the 1980s. The Planner provides handwritten details about Dagny's PRIVATE DINNER PARTIES and the leading Artists, Writers, Film Directors, Actors, Models, and others that attended from 1983 to 1987.

Faux leather covers titled in gilt with spiral bound inner pages. The Dinner Party Planner is in the form of a Date Book Planner. Published by At-A-Glance record books. Includes the following categories for each dinner party: Occasion, Time/Date, Guest List, Menu, Special Notes (China, Crystal, Centerpiece, Linen, etc.), and Seating Arrangement. There are 28 Dinner Parties recorded, each is detailed on one or both of two facing pages. Though the Hostess, and owner of this Dinner Party Planner, was clearly Dagny Corcoran, the details of the parties were written in various hands, some in Dagny's (she referred to herself as ME when noting the seating arrangements), while most are probably in the hands of her assistants. There are also unused pages. VERY GOOD condition, solid, clean, with writing that is bright and clear throughout.

TWENTY-EIGHT DINNER PARTIES held by DAGNY CORCORAN from 1983 to 1987 are recorded in this book. If you attended one of these dinner parties you were at the HEIGHT of the L.A. ART & LITERARY SCENE. This DINNER PARTY PLANNER gives an almost I WAS THERE look at each of the Dinner Parties.
