Vintage Cult Fashion Photography HYSTERIC GLAMOUR Self Portrait Vol. 1, No. 2 1991 Japanese STREET HARAJUKU Scarce 1ST

Hysteric Glamour was founded in 1984 by Japanese designer Nobuhiko Kitamura. A counterculture fashion house that subversively fused New Wave, Punk, American Pop culture, the 1970s and Japanese street culture creating the iconic and rebellious Harajuku aesthetic you can purchase from high end retailers.

VERY GOOD CONDITION: covers have light shelfwear and a few scratches and scrapes, internally light age-toning to margins, otherwise tight, bright, clean and unmarked. An excellent example of this groundbreaking Japanese Harajuku brand foray into art publishing.

In 1991, Nobuhiko Kitamura published his first photograph collection through his fashion brand Hysteric Glamour. Kitamura produced a "series of books with people who firmly believe they have the energy to elevate the feeling of HYSTERIC." Following similar pioneering works that blur the line between fashion and art such as Comme des Garçons SIX magazine. Hysteric Glamour's early photography books laid the groundwork for the collaborative culture that came to define Harajuku in the 1990s.
